T Levels for Employers

Discover and develop talent that will help your business grow

T Levels are a new way for you to cost-effectively recruit and nurture the future workforce of your business. You will help young people gain the knowledge, attitude and practical skills they need to thrive. And you can do that in a way that suits the needs and resources of your company.

What is a T Level?

A T Level is for students aged between 16 and 19 years of age. It is made up of both classroom study (80%) and an industry placement (20%). The course is over 2 years, and the final qualification is equivalent to 3 A Levels and will set the student on a productive career path, either with your business or in your industry.

For your business that could lead to you taking on a qualified member of staff who is already contributing to your business. Or it could mean you have helped to widen the career opportunities for a student who will go on to make their mark in your industry, thanks to the knowledge and confidence they gained while working with you.

What do you have to do?

At the heart of a T Level is a 315 hour industry placement for each student, this is equivalent to approximately 45 days. That is where you come in. If you can provide a meaningful project or development programme for a T Level student, then you will not only be helping that person, but you could also be adding some new perspectives and ideas to your organisation. T Levels allow you to create a talent pipeline for your business and grow a skilled, diverse, workforce.

What could you get from working with T Level students?

Apart from the £1000 for each student that you host, you will also benefit from:

  • New ideas and perspectives
  • Extra help with projects
  • Developing entrants into your industry
  • Enhancing your brand image and profile
  • Improved management and mentoring skills
  • The opportunity for increased diversity

How is it different from an Apprenticeship?

A T Level is not a substitute or a replacement for an Apprenticeship. It is an alternative way for students to add work experience and skills to their academic achievements, which prepares them better for the workplace and makes them more attractive to employers.

An Apprenticeship is structured to give the apprentice more time in the workplace, which they add to with academic qualifications. They are employed by the organisation, who are given financial help from the UK Government to help with the process. Apprenticeships are also open to all age groups, making them a good choice for those who want to re-train, up skill or are returning to the workplace. T Levels are for those aged 16 -19 years.
