Website Accessibility Statement for North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College

NWSLC (North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College) is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to the NWSLC website www.nwslc.ac.uk

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
• Change colours, contrast levels and fonts
• Zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen
• Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
• Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
• Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and Voiceover)

We have several alternative display options which should help you to view this website in a style that is easiest for you to read.

UserWay Accessibility Widget – UserWay provides speech, reading and translation support tools to websites, making online content more accessible for people with Dyslexia, Low Literacy, English as a Second Language, and those with visual impairments.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version [2.1 or 2.2] AA standard, due to the exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
• A few videos that are embedded in our website do not have captions.
• We embed Google Maps on our campus pages to display live map data. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of the embedded map. All relevant content displayed on Google Maps is also on the webpage in plain text.
• Some of our website pages use Tables. These can be hard to navigate with a keyboard and we are looking into an alternative solution.

We are actively improving our website accessibility by:
• Ensuring staff are aware of how to create accessible pages and documents.
• Ongoing monitoring of accessibility issues using automated testing via UserWay.
• An additional manual check through our web agency (Unity) to regularly review accessibility and action website development.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 20th March 2023. It was last reviewed on 1st December 2023.

We use UserWay to scan our website, evaluating its compliance alongside regular self-assessment.
