Following the success of its first physical open events since the pandemic began last month,

North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) is due to open its doors again to help young people and adults plan their study options and move into exciting careers.

Prospective students will be able to visit the college’s facilities in person at its Hinckley and Wigston Campuses on Monday 22 November 2021 to find out about the latest study options and career opportunities. Harrowbrook Campus will showcase construction skills on Thursday 25 November 2021

Whether they are thinking about choices post-16, contemplating a career change, wanting to upskill and get a new job, or enter higher education, tutors will be on hand to advise them. There will be ‘have a go’ activities for each curriculum area where visitors can find out more and try their hand at a range of skills.

From exploring a photography studio to seeing an engineering workshop in action, visitors can get a taste of what college life is all about. The event will include drop-in sessions with information on the costs of coming to college, student support and travel advice. All three campuses will be open between 5pm and 8pm on the day of the events.

At Wigston Campus, visitors will have the chance to discover courses in accounting, business and IT, childcare, counselling, construction, creative media, engineering, games design, hairdressing and beauty therapy, health and social care, uniformed services, sport, travel, and a wide range of Apprenticeship programmes. Visitors can explore the college’s facilities including the gym and salons.

The college’s Hinckley Campus specialises in the creative arts including art and graphic design

fashion and textiles, games design, journalism, media, performing arts and photography as well as a wide range of Apprenticeships.

Harrowbrook Campus is home to the college’s construction, trades and logistics courses and simulates a real-life industry workplace. This campus is specifically designed to provide students with high-quality facilities and training in forklift truck driving, maintenance and repair, carpentry, brickwork, and multi-skills including painting, decorating, tiling, and plastering.

Anita Ladva-Cheung, marketing and communications manager at NWSLC said, “The world of work has changed so much over the last eighteen months and job vacancies are on the increase in areas such as digital, logistics, construction and health and social care. The way we are working has also changed, and that has led the college to adapt its course offer so that people can learn online at times to suit themselves.

“We have organised our open events to showcase the fantastic facilities at our campuses in Leicestershire and we hope that coming in to talk to our tutors and advice team will help individuals to crystalise their thinking on study options and next steps.”

The college is also offering places on study programmes for those aged 16-18 that start in January 2022. For more information, talk to the advice team live via the college website or call 0330 058 3000 to speak to an advisor.

For those unable to attend an open event in person this month, NWSLC will be staging a virtual session on Wednesday 8 December 2021 between 6pm and 8pm on its website.
