The Digital Skills Academy at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) has been recognised as the ‘Academic Partner of the Year 2023’ for its exceptional efforts in equipping individuals with essential IT skills and facilitating career progression opportunities for those in the workforce.

This prestigious award was presented at the 2023 CompTIA EMEA Member and Partner Conference, held in London in October.

The Digital Skills Academy, situated at Coventry University’s Technology Park campus, was established in 2020 following a successful funding bid led by NWSLC in collaboration with the West Midlands Combined Authority. This innovative initiative has been instrumental in addressing the growing demand for digital skills, recognising that digital skills are increasingly central to all professions.

The academy offers a comprehensive range of courses, all of which are built on CompTIA’s IT Fundamentals, A+, Network +, Security+, and Cybersecurity Analyst+ certifications. These certifications equip students with the foundational skills required to kick-start a career in the technology sector.

By providing a clear pathway to highly sought-after digital roles in software development and cybersecurity, the Digital Skills Academy assists businesses in accessing a pool of individuals with advanced skills, bridging workforce skill gaps. Students can also benefit from opportunities at the academy to enhance their digital skills, which are essential in today’s technology-driven business landscape.

“We are incredibly proud to receive the ‘Academic Partner of the Year 2023’ award,” said Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive of NWSLC “This recognition reaffirms our commitment to empowering individuals with the digital skills needed for a successful future. We look forward to continuing our mission of bridging the digital skills gap and contributing to the growth of our region’s technology sector.”
