School leavers across Warwickshire and Leicestershire are being invited to visit their local college campus and find out about the careers they could follow at open events staged by North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College during the 16th annual National Apprenticeship Week (6-12 February 2023).

The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2023 is ‘Skills for Life’ reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding future career.

During the week, the college will throw open its doors at its Hinckley and Wigston Campuses on Monday 6 February 2023 (5pm – 8pm) and its Nuneaton, Harrowbrook and MIRA Technology Institute Campuses on Thursday 9 February 2023 (5pm – 8pm) so visitors can explore the facilities, talk to current students, and seek advice from tutors. For those exploring apprenticeships for the first time, there will be a chance sign-up for a place in the college’s talent pool and gain access to exclusive vacancies available only with NWSLC.

Whether they are thinking about choices post-16, contemplating a career change, wanting to upskill and get a new job, or enter higher education, tutors will be on hand to advise them. There will be ‘have a go’ activities for each curriculum area where visitors can find out more and try their hand at a range of skills. From exploring a photography studio to seeing an engineering workshop in action, visitors can get a taste of what college life is all about. The event will include drop-in sessions with information on the costs of coming to college, student support and travel advice.

Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive of NWSLC said, “We’re delighted to welcome prospective students to our fabulous campuses as part of this high-profile week. Most of our courses are highly practical and creative, so there is always a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere in college.

“The current employment market is extremely buoyant and there are so many opportunities especially in the digital, healthcare, logistics and construction sectors. Working with hundreds of employers, we are well placed to advise on the latest industry trends and the best routes into exciting career paths.”

Anyone interested in getting involved should pre-register for an open event to reserve their space.
