Travel and Tourism

There is a split between UK holidays and abroad with travel being restricted during the pandemic. Many holidaymakers are interested in our homegrown destinations and others want to jet off to international destinations.

This means a huge increase of interest in places from caravan parks to high-end boutique hotels, cosy coastal holiday let cottages to craft weekends, country parks to theme parks. Travel and tourism are changing rapidly, and so are the opportunities to get involved.

Jobs within this sector can be found in a huge variety of settings, including:
• Cinemas and entertainment complexes
• Theme parks
• Zoos
• Heritage sites
• Tour companies
• Tourist boards
• Coach travel companies
• Railway stations and tours
• Waterways (canals, rivers, lakes)
• Museums

As with many different industries, there are many routes into employment within this sector. As well as paid, part-time work, you may be able to access volunteer opportunities that can lead to full-time, paid employment. Our HND will enable you to develop specific skills and achieve the qualifications necessary for progression.
