Healthcare Practice

Social care is about providing physical, emotional, and social support for people at different stages of their lives, to help them maintain their independence and dignity. Social care supports all kinds of people, in their own homes, in residential care homes or other settings such as day centres or supported housing. Around 1.6 million people currently work in the social care sector.

Healthcare careers can lead to employment as a doctor, dentist, pharmacist, physiotherapist, osteopath, psychologist, occupational therapist and many more. Whilst there are entry-level roles in many of these professions, they all require formal qualifications to progress.

Health and social care careers offer a genuine opportunity to improve people’s lives in a direct, meaningful way. As you are often interacting with people at their most vulnerable, and most dependent, it can be a deeply rewarding career.
