Games Development

The UK video games industry is currently worth around £1.2bn per year, and the digital age offers countless opportunities for carers in the games industry.

To be successful in this highly competitive and exciting world, you will need to enjoy and understand gaming yourself, as well as developing a wide range of skills, from 3D modelling to coding physics. You will also need a great imagination.

As well as specific skills, you’ll need to perform well in a team, be willing to work under pressure and deliver to deadlines, and sometimes work long and unsociable hours, especially in the lead-up to a game’s launch.

From the first internationally-recognised Pac-Man to the sophisticated Xbox games of today, a career in games design could take you to exciting new worlds. Whether you’re battling imaginary monsters or trying to create the unbeatable football team, there’s a whole world waiting for you to create that perfect new game.
