FACILITIES MANAGEMENT SPONSOR PROVIDES BOOST FOR LOROS ROCKET TRAIL

A facilities management business has pledged its support for this summer’s Rocket Round Leicester art trail by becoming a headline sponsor of North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire college’s giant rocket that is due to go on display at The Rally off Tudor Road later this month.

FMS UK Ltd, based in Coventry, provides facilities management, mechanical and electrical services and carries out refurbishments for clients all over the country. Its staff are based in Leicestershire, at Broughton Astley, as well as in Warwickshire.

LOROS Hospice is working with leading art event producers Wild in Art to create Rocket Round Leicester, the biggest art event the city has ever seen. NWSLC students competed to have their designs brought to life on mini rocket sculptures called Junior Jets currently being installed around the city as part of the Rocket Trail.

Anne Jones, Finance Director for FMS UK Ltd said, “We are delighted to be supporting NWSLC with this project and happy to help raise money for LOROS which is such as worthwhile charity. The last year has been so difficult for everyone and the health and care sector has never been more highly valued. The pandemic has brought home to us how important places like LOROS are within their local communities.

“Our partnership with the college is based on employing its former students within our workforce. We also have an electrical engineering apprentice starting with us this September who will study on a day release basis with NWSLC.

“We were lucky to have been kept busy during the pandemic especially with helping hospitals to keep their maintenance and refurbishment work on track. And we have recently been approved as official installers of charging points for electric vehicles, so we expect to be even busier over the coming months. It is great to be able to make our contribution to the post-pandemic economic recovery.”

The Rocket Round Leicester trail, which is due to launch on 19 July 2021, will feature 40 giant rocket sculptures designed by professional artists as part of a spectacular trail that will take visitors to the city’s top spots on a free outdoor art exhibition.

Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive of NWSLC said, “We would like to sincerely thank our headline sponsors FMS UK Ltd for their contribution. This project brings so many benefits; to our students, our community and to the LOROS charity which helps so many families. Our sponsors clearly recognise these benefits, and we are sincerely grateful for their support.”

Carrie-Anne Abdulai, Director for Higher Education and Access to Higher Education Provision for NWSLC said, “We are delighted to be supporting this project which is designed to give the city of Leicester a tourism boost while raising money for LOROS at the same time.

“For our students, it is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience of a live commercial project in which they will need to develop some highly creative ideas, compete against their peers, meet real deadlines, and deliver against their objectives.”

Rocket Round Leicester is expected to attract around 300,000 people adding £6 million to the city’s economy and contributing to its post-pandemic recovery. LOROS Hospice is inviting businesses and other organisations to pledge their support to enjoy the benefits sponsorship can bring, whilst also supporting a well-loved charity.

NWSLC has pledged to raise £8,000 for LOROS as part its involvement in the trail and donations can be made here. Visit the college’s rocket sculpture between 19 July 2021 and 26 September 2021 and you will be able to access a range of treats and prizes via the official app.
