Young people who remain uncertain about their choices at the age of 16 are being reassured that there is still a college place available at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC). The college is also reminding potential candidates that it has several exciting apprenticeship vacancies on offer including in motor vehicle, engineering, hairdressing, and digital roles across the region.

Over the last few weeks, the college has been welcoming thousands of new students and providing an engaging induction experience. Although the new term has already started, it is still not too late to embark on a full-time study programme, or to switch courses or move into an apprenticeship. Students can still enrol or even change course up until half term.

Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive of NWSLC said, “We know that making choices at the age of 16 about next steps and careers can be difficult and this has been compounded by another difficult year for young people caused by pandemic disruption.

“Sometimes the road they start down may not meet their original expectations. However, it is not too late to change direction. We have been urging our students to speak up if the path they are on doesn’t feel right. We are happy to assist them in switching courses or moving straight into work with an apprenticeship.

“We remain committed to our guarantee of a post-16 college place, regardless of exam result outcomes, and we are happy to extend that offer up until the half term this October. Our teams will work closely with young people and their parents to make their transition into further education as easy and enjoyable as possible.”

Anyone who has not yet applied for a college course can still apply online. Advice and guidance teams will be available for anyone who is not sure about their next steps. You can talk to the team live via the college website or call 0330 058 3000 to speak to an advisor.
