This week, we’ve hosted one of the national qualifiers for Network System Administrator in the WorldSkills Competition. We had two learners competing, Ryan Instrell and Rohan Jaiaprasat, both currently studying IT Level 3 at our Wigston Campus.

The competition was to challenge competitors to test their ICT skills in configuring and administering a Windows 7, 10 and Windows Server 2012 clients. The competition tests the knowledge and skills learned in the Microsoft Official Curriculum range of qualifications. Competitors undertook a series of practical tasks which, demonstrated their abilities and skills in Microsoft networking. The practical tasks carried out were using virtual machines. All machines were hosted in a virtual environment using Oracle Virtual Box.

Both students were excellent ambassadors for the college and the results were as follows:

1st Place – Ryan Instrell

2nd Place – Rohan Jaiaprasat

A great result, they are now waiting for the final results from all the qualifiers to find out if they will be competing at the National Final, at  World Skills Live, to be held at the NEC in November 2019.
