North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) is inviting accounting technicians and bookkeepers to secure their future careers with access to free training thanks to funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).

The year-long training programme, which leads to a Level 3 AAT Accounting Technicians diploma, starts on 15 September 2020, and can be followed flexibly through blended learning and by attending college on one day or evening per week at the college’s Nuneaton Campus. Thanks to the support of the WMCA, no course fees will be payable by students who live within West Midlands postcode areas*.

Tom Hamilton-Dick, Deputy Principal, Curriculum and Innovation at NWSLC said, “We’re delighted to be able to support this training, and at no cost to those living within WMCA areas. The UK workforce is facing unprecedented challenges and is witnessing seismic shifts in the profile of employment. However, skills in finance, accounting and bookkeeping are always likely to remain in demand and represent lucrative career pathways.”

The Level 3 AAT qualification is ideal for those already working in the accounting or finance function of a commercial or public sector organisation. AAT is the professional body for accounting technicians and its qualifications are widely respected throughout the accounting profession. The Level 3 diploma is suitable for those already qualified at Level 2 or with existing industry experience in double entry bookkeeping.

Tom Hamilton-Dick added, “The course is highly flexible enabling students to choose a class during the working day with the support of their employer or in the evening after work. Coursework can be undertaken at a time to suit each individual and success in the exam can help to cement future career progression.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to access valuable training with no tuition fee and gain a nationally recognised qualification accredited by an industry awarding body. The fees for the Level 3 diploma are £2,573 for those not eligible for funding so we urge everyone who is interested to come forward and take advantage of this time-limited offer.”

Candidates who are interested in signing up for the Level 3 AAT diploma should visit the NWSLC web page, check their eligibility, and apply direct. Get in touch for more information on 0330 058 3000 or via enquiries@nwslc.ac.uk
