North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) has answered the call to donate essential equipment to the NHS for use in the fight against the coronavirus. It is making available around 3,000 pairs of disposable gloves, 3,000 aprons and around 60 pairs of goggles and masks for use by frontline staff. The college uses personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect students in teaching departments including engineering, motor vehicle, hairdressing and beauty therapy.

NWSLC remains partially open at its Nuneaton and Wigston Campuses to support the children of keyworkers, those with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), students in local authority care, and other students that are known to be vulnerable.

Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive of NWSLC said, “Following an appeal from the NHS, the college has made a donation of a considerable quantity of personal protective equipment which will hopefully be useful to NHS staff who are working around the clock to treat patients with COVID-19. The college will make every effort to support our local communities to help keep the UK moving during this time of national crisis.”
