Last week, Professional Cookery and Hospitality Supervision students from our Nuneaton Campus visited University College Birmingham to compete in the British Culinary Federation Student Cook and Serve competition.

Nadine Joshua, Chloe Lloyd-Hughes and Matthew Batho competed as a team against six other colleges to prepare, cook and serve a three-course meal with wine and coffee, and finished a well-deserved first place! The success didn’t stop there, as the team also secured the ‘Best Kitchen Team’ trophy and Matthew came in a very close second as ‘Best Front of House’.

Jason Thacker, Hospitality and Catering Lecturer at the College, said: “These competitions are a fantastic way for the students to really test their skills against peers from across the country – it has been a great experience and we are extremely proud of their achievements.”

The College has also been chosen to host the semi-final of the UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year on May 1st – so stay tuned for more tasty updates!
