North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College’s catering department has won 55 awards during a national competition – including Best College 2019.
Students from the College’s Hospitality and Catering Department took part in the Welsh International Culinary Championships between 26 and 28 February.
The competitions are organised by the Culinary Association of Wales and attract more than 350 chefs from across Wales and England. Held at the Llandrillo Menai’s Rhos-on-Sea campus, the annual event sees chefs test their skills in a variety of culinary competitions.
North Warwickshire and South College’s team came back with a total of 55 awards, including:
Student Chloe Lloyd-Hughes also won the Visit Wales – The Year of Discovery Challenge, and Callum Wood won The Ecolab Best Overall Hygiene Award.
Jason Thacker, Hospitality and Catering Lecturer at the College, said: “It has been a fantastic team performance – each one of the ten students who competed are returning with a medal and many of them have already been offered work placements or experience in industry from some of the judges of the competitions.”
“These competitions are a fantastic way for the students to really test their skills against peers from across the country – it has been a great experience and we are extremely proud of their achievements.”
