North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College are calling on employers to get in touch in response to the Chancellor’s announcement of support to help get young people into work.
The announcement of a package of measures to support work placements, traineeships and apprenticeships includes cash incentives for businesses to fund jobs for young people at risk of unemployment.
This scheme will fund the direct creation of high-quality jobs for young people at the highest risk of long-term unemployment. It will give young people the chance to build their confidence and skills in the workplace and to gain experience that will improve their chances of going on to find sustainable work.
Funding for Traineeships
The government will provide an additional £111 million this year for traineeships in England, to fund high-quality work placements and training for 16-24 year olds. For the first time ever, the government will fund employers who provide trainees with work experience, at a rate of £1,000 per trainee.
Funding for Apprenticeships
With young people likely to be hardest hit by the recession, employers are being provided with support to take them on including a bonus of up to £2,000 for employing a new apprentice. This is in addition to the £1,000 incentive already in place to take on an apprentice aged 16-18.
