National Apprenticeship Week 2020

National Apprenticeship Week is a week-long celebration of apprenticeships across England. The event is aimed at celebrating apprenticeship success stories and it is also a platform to highlight the career opportunities available to budding apprentices.

The 13th annual National Apprenticeship Week will run from 3rd to 9th February 2020. Apprenticeship employers use the opportunity to promote the success of their apprentices and highlight the huge benefits to other employers, of all sizes, who are thinking of taking on an apprentice. It is also a chance to shout about all that is great about apprentices and their trainers on a national stage.

Co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service the theme for this year’s event is ‘Look Beyond’ which will celebrate the value and diversity that apprenticeships bring to employers, apprentices and communities across England today. The theme is aimed at encouraging the apprenticeship community to showcase the true meaning of diversity within apprenticeships.

This is the perfect time to talk to our Business Engagement Team about Apprenticeships – what’s available, how to get a work placement, view current vacancies and much more!

Director of Apprenticeships, Katy Urwin said: “During National Apprenticeship Week, we’re asking employers to look beyond their usual hiring routes and learn from those who have already diversified their workforce through apprentices. We’re also calling on young people to look beyond traditional routes into employment and explore the diversity of career options and industries now available to them through apprenticeships. And finally, we’re asking parents and teachers to look beyond preconceptions around apprenticeships to understand the true value that they bring and to share this with young people”.

Business Engagement Manager, Phil Widdowson said: “NWSLC provide an extensive range of apprenticeship opportunities, the college supports apprentices across seven main sector areas serving more than 600 employers. Apprenticeships are becoming the choice for many people creating their own exciting careers. National Apprenticeship Week helps increase awareness of apprenticeships and the many opportunities they can create”.
