Level3 Early Years Education And Care


This course prepares you to work with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments within the Early Years sector. The course will build and develop the necessary practical skills and understanding to give you a firm grounding in the principles of children's care for progression into employment or higher-level education. You will attend a variety of settings arranged by the college to fulfil the 750 hours required placement hours.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements are 4 GCSE at Grade C/4 or above or a relevant Level 2 qualification. Must include English GCSE at C/4.


You will require stationery equipment, uniform, which is to be worn whilst in a practical child care placement, and textbooks.

Courses are free for 16-18 who have not studied higher than GCSE's. Even if you have studied a different course at college or sixth form we may still be able to help. Speak to the admissions team for more information. There maybe free or reduced costs for adults, contact the admissions team to see if you are eligible.

Share Course

If successful, there are a variety of potential careers that you can explore as the qualification enables you to apply for employment in a supervisory capacity, for example as an Early Years Practitioner in a nursery, school setting or hospital. It is also possible for you to progress into careers that require further training as the qualifications hold a maximum of 420 UCAS points. This includes Higher Education further afield or within NWHC e.g. Foundation Degree's in Early Years.
