This course is for students who want to work with children from birth through to early primary age. It provides you with the high standard of training you need to begin working under supervision, with young children in a variety of early years settings such as nurseries, playgroups and schools. You will learn about children's holistic development, and many practical skills that are needed to support their care and education. Practical placements are key.

Entry requirements are 4 GCSE at Grade D/3 or above or a relevant Level 1 qualification.
You will require stationery equipment, uniform, which is to be worn whilst in a practical childcare placement, and text books.
Successful completion of the course would enable the learner to apply for the level 3 Childcare qualification and other level 3 qualifications relating to the area (subject to Maths and English grades) or gain employment in a supervised role. Possible job roles include Nursery Assistant, Pre-school Assistant or Classroom Assistant in the private, statutory or voluntary sector.
Mode of Study
Courses are free for 16-18 who have not studied higher than GCSE's. Even if you have studied a different course at college or sixth form we may still be able to help.
