About

This Access to Policing and Criminology course with our college allows you to develop both the theoretical and practical skills to start a career in policing, criminology, social sciences and many other areas.
We have a team of experienced teachers who will offer you variety in delivery, real-life examples and assessments to give you a good grounding for any future career.

Modules

You will be able to study a variety of units which cover the subjects of policing, law, psychology and criminology, giving you a rounded overview of the area. You will study subjects such as:

  • Actus Reus and Mens Rea
  • Evidence
  • Powers of the Police
  • Psychology of criminal investigation
  • Criminal justice
  • And many more.

Entry Requirements

You will need a GCSE in English and Maths at grade C/4 or above. No previous experience is required.

Equipment

No specific equipment is required, however we ask you come ready to study with paper, pens, folders etc.

Next Steps

From this course you could move on to higher study, such as a degree in Policing, Criminology, Social Studies, Criminal Justice, or our own HNC in Policing. Some of our students have also used this course as a stepping stone in to policing entry roles – such as call handlers.
