Summa Albrighton is starting her career by keeping hungry residents of a Coventry industrial estate fed and refreshed, especially during the latest blast of wintry weather. Summa, 16, from Nuneaton was keen to start work as soon as she left school. She talked to her career advisor at The Nuneaton Academy and decided to try out a hospitality apprenticeship. Her aunt Nicola Robertson gave her a start with a job at Sizzles, her successful catering unit based at the Exhall Industrial Estate in Coventry.
Within weeks of leaving school, Summa was signed up as part of the hospitality team and is cooking breakfast ‘batches’, creating wholesome lunch baguettes and making coffees for grateful estate employees and she couldn’t be happier. Nicola is fully supportive of the apprenticeship programme and was keen that Summa should gain a qualification while she worked so that can progress in the future. She found NWSLC very helpful and supportive and has been pleased with Summa’s progress.
