Robert, 26, from Bedworth, has worked in the engineering sector for ten years, completing his Level 3 apprenticeship at the College’s Nuneaton campus.

He worked as a CNC Machinist for the Premier Group and for ADV Manufacturing in Coventry, signing up to study for an HNC in Engineering to further improve his skills and knowledge, and to equip himself for future promotion.

Robert enjoyed the learning experience on his HNC course so much, he was inspired to re-think his career and last summer, he returned to the College as a lecturer in engineering. Robert is now passing on the skills he has learned in the industry to Level 2 students, helping them to develop turning, milling and fitting skills so that they can join engineering machine shops when they complete their studies.

Robert enjoys working at the College and is finding the HNC in Engineering really useful in helping him to keep on top of the latest skills and knowledge. He is currently studying advanced CAD and engineering design, using computer software to generate models and create bespoke components.

Robert is in the second year of his higher education course and hopes that he will progress within the College in the future and eventually take on a management role.
