Warwickshire police visited North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College’s Nuneaton, Hinckley and Harrowbrook campuses to conduct an awareness session with students surrounding the legal and social implications of knife crime.
With knife crime on the increase staff commented that turning on the news and just hearing the word “Stabbing” is chilling.
Warwickshire police are visiting schools and colleges to target young people who are unfortunately the main culprits for carrying knives to send the message that “carrying knives will ruin lives”.
PC Marston the Youth Engagement Officer and Cadet Leader for Warwickshire Police delivered an interactive and engaging workshop where he stated that “participation is essential”. Short YouTube videos were used that gave students a true reflection of the impacts of knife crime, which students commented as ‘petrifying’ and ‘scary’. PC Marston encouraged discussion and debates between the students, who gave thoughtful answers and views. The workshop was very harrowing but very informative and enabled young people to discuss a gritty and tough part of society in a safe environment. NWSLC would like to thank Warwickshire Police in particular PC Marston who delivered an informative and thought provoking workshop.
