Beauty Therapy and Media Make-up students created some absolute masterpieces during regional competitions last week.

Seven students took part in the WorldSkills UK regional heats at Kidderminster College on Wednesday 19 June.

The students tested their skills in a number of tasks including:

  1. Media body and paint: create a make-up design that reflects the theme All the Elements
  2. Commercial make-up: create a make-up design that reflects the theme En Vogue
  3. Beauty Therapist: complete a facial, makeup, eyelash & eye brow tint finishing with a french polish manicure

Results were:

Media and body paint

  • Cian Coackely 1st
  • Natalie Page 2nd

Commercial makeup

  • Mia Harper 3rd

Beauty therapist

  • Alicia Ford 1st
  • Georgia Evans 3rd

Results from all of the heats will now be added up and the top eight out of the country will go on to compete at the finals which are to be held at the NEC this November.

Leanne Newitt, Lecturer in Make-up Artistry said: “These students have been the perfect group to work with, we’ll be sad to see them go once they finish their course! We wish all of them good luck for progressing into the next phase; and we are extremely proud of them all. They are a credit to themselves and the College.”

Congratulations to all students!
